Today I set up my survey and asked a couple of my classmates to fill it out. I think a survey is a excellent idea as I can get an idea of what certain preferences people like. This can help me to make my magazine successful as possible.

Project Log before 8th october

Over the last couple of weeks in media studies I have looked at a lot if sample and past blogs from other years. I believe viewing these has helped me to model and shape my blog as it allows me to see how others do it. In the first two lessons of media we started off looking at example blogs which were created by the higher year media students. I got to see others preliminary tasks which helped me to create mine. As a class we discussed we the positives and negatives of each piece and how we could improve each piece. This helped me as after I did my preliminary task I could improve my task just like the example one. During the second part of our first double lesson Miss Baker gave us a camera and sent us off in groups to take some pictures for our first task as media students. In our group we took a range of pictures so we had a wider selection to choose from, these included long shots, mid shots etc… We took pictures in the school canteen, the school car park, corridors, classrooms and outside in the tennis courts. After I checked all the pictures and made sure I could use a couple on my magazine we sat down on the desks and started to sketch our magazines to get an idea on how we could lay them out. We also used real magazines as examples and a kind of guideline to stick to. After we carefully planned the sketch we went to the computers and used a programme called Adobe InDesign. This is a decent software which is easy to use and is ideal for making magazine covers. Before I started on the computer I outlined my sketch with black marker so it is easier to see and it was able to be scanned in easier. Finally I began to create my Preliminary log and Evaluation which I will complete for homework and upload to my blog.
